Building History
Dr.
Baker is a second-generation orthodontist. His father, Dr. Guy Baker,
started practicing in San Diego in the 1970's. Dr. Baker (the younger)
was, at that time, attending high school at San
Pasqual High. After graduating, he went on to attend college
at Brigham
Young University, and also served a 2 year church mission in
Sweden (he still speaks fluid Swedish.) After finishing Dental
School at UCLA, a surgical residency in San Francisco, and Orthodontic
School at USC, Dr. Baker finally returned home in 1988 to join his
father's orthodontic practice in Escondido (later to be named Baker
Orthodontics). In 1993 Dr. Baker married his sweetheart, Angie Linedecker.
They have since had 3 beautiful children: Julia, Alex, and Shannon
who attend school at San Pasqual Union School. They also have a
dog named Zela and a cat named Nala
Dr. Baker loves orthodontics, but occasionally he hangs up his
pliers to pursue other interests. Among these are scouting. He
has been a Boy Scout leader for most of the last 12 years, and
just loves it. An Eagle Scout himself, Dr. Baker has always found
joy in the scouting program.
He also likes the outdoors, and can frequently be found camping,
hiking, mountain biking, and gardening. He also is a big fan of
water sports. He swam on the San Pasqual High School Swim Team,
and was later the Official Swedish language interpreter for the
swimming and diving competition at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
He also enjoys fishing, boating, sailing, wind surfing, and SCUBA
diving. His career in bungee jumping was brief but exciting (one
jump was all he needed to retire from the sport).
While he has a lot of interests, Dr. Baker finds these days, that
when he's not at the office he mostly just likes to hang out with
his wife and kids. They are, after all, his favorite hobby!
